SUMMARY

Job Description

General Nursery Duties and Responsibilities: Duties and responsibilities change based on the needs of the nursery at the time. General nursery work may include any or all of the following: Assisting with production by splitting, potting and delivering plants to onsite greenhouses. Weeding, planting beds and fields, working in landscape, and other miscellaneous duties. Performing general tasks in greenhouses such as watering, weeding, pruning, and moving plants. Assisting with shipping. This may include cleaning, organizing, retrieving, boxing, and tagging plants for shipping, and loading trucks. Helping with planting and maintaining stock beds and fields. Keeping greenhouses and workspace clean and helping keep common areas clean. Following all safety guidelines and policies as outlined in the employee manual, and as instructed during orientation and in safety meetings. Be in alignment with Hoffman Nursery, Inc. core values. Performing other duties as required or assigned. Saturday work may be required. Essential Functions and Physical Requirements: Wear personal protective equipment. Close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus, with or without corrective lenses. Significant walking. Stand for long periods of time (up to 8 hours). Reach, bend, stoop, kneel, twist, push and/or pull, and lift and carry up to 35 pounds. Regular and reliable attendance. Required Qualifications: 18 years old or older Must be eligible to work in the United States Able to perform physical work and willing to get dirty Able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, twist and lift and carry items up to 40 lbs. Able to work outside for extended periods of time in all types of weather, including winter cold and summer heat Work well with hands (good hand-eye coordination) Work well as part of a group and independently Pay close attention to detail and safety, and follow all safety rules Ability to use hand tools such as trowels and others Must have reliable transportation Great work ethic
