Job Description

Snyder Livestock Co., Inc. We are seeking an organized, dependable, and proficient farm mechanic to join the Snyder Livestock team. A successful candidate must have a solid knowledge of technical tools. As a qualified farm mechanic, you must exhibit communication, leadership, time management, and record keeping skills as well as the ability to quickly and effectively diagnose and resolve mechanical problems. Equipment to be maintained and repaired varies widely and will include, but is not limited to, large tractors and implements, trucks, passenger vehicles, large ag pumps, small farm equipment, and other equipment used on a farm/feedlot operation. Mechanic Job Duties and Responsibilities • Perform routine maintenance on machinery or automotive vehicles • Inspect machines for faulty parts • Analyze and diagnose mechanical issues • Create and implement a plan of action for all repairs • Weld and use cutting torch • Maintain maintenance records • Regularly clean and maintain tools and equipment • Ensure a safe, organized, and tidy workspace • Input, track and maintain all maintenance data and records • Keep machinery in good working condition • Track inventory and order new parts and supplies when required • Communicate with administration personnel to assure correct tracking of time and purchases. • Communicate with management and other employee’s the status of equipment • Prioritize work in accordance with current operational activities • Support co-workers and be a good team player • Follow all health and safety laws and guidelines, as well as common-sense safety practices • While other employees do some maintenance and may be available to assist on projects, the position is mostly a one-person position. • Normal hours are 7 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Saturday. These are flexible with the possibility of longer days during planting and harvest and shorter weeks during seasonally slower times. Mechanic Requirements and Qualifications • High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred • Associates degree or vocational/trade school certification preferred • Proven mechanical acuity and basic math skills • Familiarity with common mechanic’s tools, service, and diagnostic equipment • Coordinated and dexterous • Ability to work in uncomfortable physically demanding positions, stand on one’s feet for prolonged periods, and lift up to 100 pounds on a regular basis • Although most work will be done in a shop, ability to work in heat, cold, or wind when work must be done in the field. • Attention to detail • Computer literate • Communication, decision making, time management, organizational, and leadership skills • Efficient worker To Apply for this Position • Please reply to jobs@slcnv.com.
